FOUNDER & CHAIRMAN, OVERDRIVE

Steve Potash

Digital Advocate · Entrepreneur · Volunteer

Forty years building the world's leading digital reading platform for libraries, schools, and institutions — connecting millions of readers around the globe to their public libraries.

From a single idea to millions of readers.

THE JOURNEY

In 1986, Steve Potash founded OverDrive with a vision: every reader deserves access to great books. Today, OverDrive powers digital lending for more than 83,000 libraries around the world and reaches millions of people through the Libby, Sora and Kanopy apps, redefining how the world reads and accesses digital content.

Now, as Chairman of the Board, Steve continues to champion the belief that transformed an industry — that access to knowledge is a right, not a privilege.

Steve’s passion is to improve the world through literacy. A lifelong entrepreneur, prior to founding OverDrive he created a number of direct marketing, technology, and media related businesses.

He is married to his wife Loree, who is a librarian, attorney, and co-founder of OverDrive and is also a proud father and grandfather.
